Wounded by the forces that have destroyed his sister's will to live, Tom begins a painful journey delving into long-denied memories, grasping for what may be his own salvation as well as his sister's. At the same time, Tom gives Dr. Lowenstein the courage to address her relationship with her abusive husband. These two people from dramatically different worlds come face to face with their own pain, make startling discoveries about themselves and each other . . . and fall in love in the process.
