Mason tells Jamie she should find someone else, but Jamie can't shake the memory of Hugo. Palek brightens after passing a sperm-crisis test, but new clouds emerge. Isabella helps her father pick out a gift for Katie that leaves both parents feeling helpless.

Katie is shocked when Dave joins her at therapy, even more so after hearing what he has to tell May. Carolyn shares a college secret with Palek, who ends up skipping her session and avoiding her calls. Rebuffed by Hugo, a troubled Jamie turns to May for guidance.

Carolyn and Palek try a more aggressive approach in their efforts to get pregnant. May suggests a first step to solve David and Katie's intimacy problems. Jamie vows celibacy, but finds Nick, whose own relationship is on the rocks, hard to resist.

May offers up a novel idea for David and Katie to save their marriage. Coming to terms with their infertility, Palek makes a revelation to Carolyn. Later, Carolyn steps up her effort to be made partner at her law firm, and Palek decides to put their house on the market.
