Despite the gossip, Anna and Vronsky continue their passionate affair. Disappointed about Kitty’s rejection, Levin decides to work in the fields alongside his tenants.
Anna and Vronsky flee to Italy so they can live as a married couple. Levin and Kitty announce their engagement, but their relationship is off to a rocky start.
Anna appeals to her brother for help getting a divorce, but Karenin is resistant. Anna’s jealousy and insecurity drives a wedge into her relationship with Vronsky.
