Jackie Hill-Perry

Jackie Hill Perry was born in St. Louis, Missouri and became popular, in part, from her spoken word performances, including "My Life as a Stud," and "A Poem About Weed." She grew up with a traditional Black church influence. At 17, she began pursuing relationships with women. After some soul searching and self-reflection in 2008, Perry converted to Christianity and considers herself an ex-lesbian. She continues to write poetry and hip-hop music.
