Durkhov, head of operations at the Baikonur Cosmodrome is horrified: the crew seems destined to perish...

Isaak is convinced the Cosmodrome is hiding the truth. He suspects the dead body and the space accident are connected - and when he identifies another wax-covered corpse, he begins to think he may be on the trail of a cosmonaut killer.

Anna and Isaak join forces on an unofficial investigation. Fef is hot on their heels, convinced that Isaak disposed of Kurz's body and has kidnapped Anna. Fef questions his sister Irina, Isaak's wife, and senses she is hiding something. She is also secretly harboring Hoi, who has kept the microcapsule found in the dead body. Anxious for the truth to come out, Irina gives the capsule to Lydia, the Russian delegate at Baikonur.

Isaak senses he is close to finding the truth. When he'd started investigating a few months earlier, someone had booby-trapped his car. He'd escaped unharmed, but his young son was killed.

Back at Baikonur, Durkhov and Lydia forbid Anna and Isaak to mention the Soyuz; every trace of its landing has been removed. Baikonur greenlights Anna's space mission and she prepares for lift-off.

Twenty years earlier, Baikonur commander Durkhov was aboard the first Russian space station when a solar storm arose, starting a fire that created a tunnel between two realities, interweaving dimensions. Durkhov came face to face with another version of himself - but his double was badly burnt.
