Pt. 2

S14 E2: Rose Angela has grown into a beautiful young woman, but her looks and colour make it difficult for her to keep a job and with the area hard hit by the 1930s depression, work is not easy to come by. Bridget Paterson has heard nothing from her husband since that fateful night, and has found happiness of sorts with Tony. Rose Angela's grandfather Cavan gets her a temporary job filling in as a housekeeper for artist Michael Stanhope. The young woman is like a breath of fresh air in the household, and when Stanhope sacks the original housekeeper he offers Rose Angela a permanent job. Bridget worries about her daughter walking past the Arab quarter, and warns Rose Angela to ignore anyone who tries to approach her. One man keeps trying to get her attention, but she follows her mother's instructions and cuts him dead. Rose Angela enjoys working for Stanhope and soon gets used to the unusual characters turning up to be painted by him.
