The Little Engine Who Raced Ahead

S19 E17: Phillip, the little diesel boxcab, arrives at Knapford full of energy and enthusiasm. When Gordon tells Phillip how fast he is, Phillip is determined to prove that he is faster and challenges him to a race. Unfortunately Gordon is resting on the siding when Phillip comes over and when the express engine tells Phillip to "go away", he thinks it's a challenge and races off. When he gets to the other end of the line and Gordon still hasn't overtaken him, Phillip assumes he's won, causing Gordon to show him just how fast he really can be. Phillip is very impressed, but he is not in the least disheartened as he believes he still beat Gordon the first time.
