The Big Street
Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda deliver a pair of daring and riveting performances as two very different people bound together by need and love who are nearly destroyed by Manhattan's street of dreams--Broadway--the Great White Way, The Big Street. In this story written and produced by author Damon Runyon, beautiful, vain, selfish Broadway nightclub singer Gloria Lyons is sleeping with her boss, Case Ables, and adored by a busboy in the club named Little Pinks, who worships Lyons even though she barely notices him. But when Lyons dumps Ables for a wealthy playboy admirer whom she believes can help her more with her career, Ables beats Lyons and pushes her down a flight of stairs. Now crippled and out of work, Lyons is supported by the poor and hard-working Pinks, even as she remains rude and disdainful of his devotion to her ... even as he sacrifices everything to help her attain her dreams that do not include him.
