The Oklahoman

Joel McCrea stars in this western as Dr. John Brighton, who tragically loses his wife in childbirth en route to California. The kindhearted Mrs. Fitzgerald (Esther Dale) takes in Brighton and his baby daughter, and the pair settles in a small Oklahoma town. As the town grows around, Brighton finds himself defending the rights of the local Indian population and battling greedy rancher Cass Dobie, who discovers oil on their land.
