After a stint as missionaries in China, Americans Roy and Jessie decide to take the legendary Trans-Siberian Express home from Beijing via Moscow. They find they are sharing their sleeper with a dark, sexy Spaniard, Carlos, and his American girlfriend Abby, making their way home after teaching in Japan. When trainspotter Roy gets separated from the others at Novosibirsk, Jessie begins to realise that her matryoshka-loving cabin mates aren't exactly who they seem to be. Enter Narcotics Officer Grinko on the trail of a deal gone sour in Vladivostok, a handgun and a sinister sidekick, and suddenly they're on the train ride from hell.
