West Of Zanzibar

Lower-class stage magician Phroso loves his wife, Anna, but suspects her of an affair with ivory trader Mr. Crane. In a fight with Crane, Phroso falls down a flight of stairs and becomes paralyzed from the chest down. Now, years later, Phroso has used his stage magic to install himself as witch doctor of an African tribe--and raised the girl he believes to be the daughter of his wife and Mr. Crane as a prostitute in local brothel. But when Mr. Crane returns, Phroso sets in motion a vile plot to cause the death of both Crane and the girl before discovering the truth in a shocking final twist.
