Wolfgang Climbing Team 2 - Venezuela Jungle Jam
In Venezuela, the Amuri Tepui massif offers an extraordinary playground for experienced climbers such as Nicolas Favresse, Sean Villanueva O'Driscoll, Stéphane Hanssens and Jean-Louis Wertz in search of new sensations. Access to the foot of the wall is in itself a little odyssey. From Caracas, you have to fly to the village of Yunek and then cross the rainforest for three days of walking. Once at the foot of the wall, an overhanging wall emerges from the jungle and is crowned 500 meters higher by a plateau. The group decided to explore the left side of the wall by the most “obvious” line possible. Climbing is extraordinary and requires a very developed sense of improvisation as well as a strong dose of courage, delicate terrain, abundant vegetation, rock not always compact making progress slow and difficult. During the second pitch, Sean Villanueva fell from 40 meters tearing 5 protections.
