Tim Ryan

NFL defensive tackle Tim Ryan spent three years playing for the Chicago Bears in the early '90s before a career-ending injury saw him make the move into broadcasting including a long-running analyst stint with Fox NFL. Born in Memphis, TN, Ryan first displayed his skills as a footballer in his high school varsity team, and while attending the University of Southern California he guided the Trojans to three Rose Bowls, became the school's all-time leading tackler and earned the All-American honor in two consecutive years. A third-round draft choice in the 1990 NFL Draft, Ryan was selected by the Chicago Bears, and went on to play nearly 60 games for the team over the course of the next three years. Ryan was forced to retire from the sport in 1994 after suffering a serious neck injury, and two years later began his broadcasting career with a hosting role on the Sports Fan Radio Network's Gametime show. Ryan made the step up to Fox Sports in 2002 when he was appointed as a color analyst, and spent the next decade there covering both NFL and college games while also contributing to KGMZ Radio in the Bay Area and weekday show "Movin' the Chains" (Sirius XM NFL Radio, 2008-). In 2014, Ryan announced that he would be leaving Fox Sports to replace Eric Davis as the color analyst for the San Francisco 49ers radio network.
