Season 1

An attraction sparks between Connell and Marianne when he comes to collect his mother, who works for Marianne's family. A deep connection begins, but the teenagers are determined to conceal it from their peers.

Connell and Marianne continue their relationship in secret. Connell makes excuses to his friends, while Marianne tries to explain her absences to her prying brother Alan.

With the night of the debs approaching, Connell and Marianne are still trying to keep their relationship secret, but this leads to a fight.

Marianne finds instant popularity at college, while Connell finds his experience is lonely. After the two run into each other, they decide to try to be friends.

Marianne and Connell realise that their break-up was due to a misunderstanding while they're seeing other people; Connell visits Marianne at her family's summer home in Italy.

Connell and Marianne are back together, but he's reluctant to show affection in front of her friends. Things take a turn when Marianne argues with her brother, and Connell loses the part-time job that finances his life in Dublin.
