24 Hour Police

Is there a different style to the way police work in Auckland, Oslo, Perth, and San Francisco? Over 24 hours on a Saturday night, officers across Auckland will attend more than 1500 incidents; that's one every minute. In San Francisco, the main issues are drugs and gangs. In Perth, alcohol, theft, and violence are its biggest problems, and in Oslo, it's drugs, prostitution, and theft.

In this episode of 24 Hours: Police, we are on patrol with police in four cities across the world from the hours of 8 pm to 2 am and we're examining alcohol, drugs, and disorder. In Auckland, a violent man with a machete is threatening his neighbours. As New Zealand police do not carry guns, the dog squad and a taser officer are called in to assist.

24 Hours: Police is filmed over a period of 24 hours, starting at 8 am on a Saturday in Auckland, Perth, San Francisco, and Oslo. In this last episode, it's the final hours of Sunday morning, from 2 am to 8 am. It examines violence, attacks on the police, whether the different police are armed and what consequences that has for both police and society.
