Helen is wrongly sentenced to 12 years in prison for murdering her boss at Entirely Tiles. Despite declaring her innocence, nobody wants to help her get out of jail.

Helen wants to enter the prison quiz, for the chance to win time off her sentence. Lawyer Tony has been told not to take Helen's case, but Henry tries to stop him from dropping it.

Helen must look after German prisoner Gertrude Verna while Christine is on a prison exchange. But Helen finds it difficult to help the notorious cannibal, who is not shy about saying what she thinks.

Helen takes matter into her own hands when she becomes annoyed about the slow progress of her appeal. Tony goes undercover at Entirely Tiles, to try and find out what everyone is up to.

Helen finds she has competition when she auditions for the prison choir. Laura and Justin become worried about expenses, and Tony begins to wonder whether Henry is as honest as he seems.

Helen learns of some critical information after being moved to D wing, and meeting white collar criminal Jo. Laura wants Justin to provide Helen with her alibi, so he can break up with her.
