How to Get a Divorce for the Whole Family!

Saki Mizuguchi and Koichi Obara get married after a fateful encounter where Koichi rescued Saki from an accident in the mountains. Saki is a free-spirited fashion magazine editor, while Koichi is a strait-laced member of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. The pair vow to build a happy life together despite their opposing personalities, but things turn sour the day after the wedding. Disagreements surface all over the place, and they get into a large argument leading to their decision to get divorced. They try to tell Koichi's parents their intention to get divorced, but Koichi's parents make an unsettling announcement before they can bring it up. To make matters worse, Saki's mother and father seem to be going through some problems of their own.

Saki shares no commonalities with her new spouse and decides on a divorce. However, Koichi reminds her that he is still her husband, and his kind acts sway her heart. Saki's editor-in-chief informs her of a potential serialization featuring Ralph Lauren and invites her and Koichi to attend a party. Koichi dislikes attending parties, but Saki persuades him to attend. However, Koichi's captain informs him that couples are expected to attend the JASDF's annual barbeque, which falls on the same day as Saki's party, and this leads to a massive argument. Disappointed, Saki heads to a restaurant and runs into her ex-boyfriend.

Koichi finds Saki lost in the woods while camping and carries her back. She thanks him sincerely, and Koichi is glad to see her happy. Saki's mother comes to the couple's new home and announces she is moving in with them. Saki's father is having an affair, and her mother seems intent on getting a divorce. Koichi's mother, who left her husband, is now working in a hot spring inn in Hakone. Koichi and Saki decide to take a vacation and visit her. Despite their impending divorce, the couple looks forward to their first trip together. Will their trip to Hakone affect their decision to get divorced? On the night before their trip, Koichi's colleagues host a send-off party, while Saki's boss informs her that she will be transferred from the fashion department to the literary department.

Saki is touched by Koichi's reason for marrying her, and Koichi feels love in her understanding. The couple reciprocates their feelings for the first time since the turmoil at Koichi's parents' home. They return home, and for some reason, Saki's ex-boyfriend Takaya is there. Takaya is a lawyer, and Saki's mother invited him to consult about her divorce. The incident makes Saki and Koichi distant again. Saki joins the literary department the following day and is tasked with managing the author Ren Minazuki. Saki finds Ren's behavior extremely selfish, and an imposing sense of dread descends over her work. Meanwhile, Koichi begins to seriously consider divorcing Saki.

Saki and Koichi decide to not get divorced and begin their relationship anew. Koichi's father Tadashi tells him that his mother Kaoru returned home, so he and Saki rush over. However, Kaoru decides to formally file for a divorce. Worried about Saki's father, Koichi goes to the house to check on him. He arrives to find Rina there, the woman Takeshi was having an affair with. Takaya, who is handling the divorce procedure for Midori, also arrives. Meanwhile the topic of Koichi's transfer comes up. Koichi explains that his superiors prefer everyone to live closer to the base. Koichi proposes that he and Saki move into his family home, but Saki has an exciting new work opportunity and opposes the idea. Will Saki and Koichi finally get divorced?

Saki and Koichi care for each other despite their differences but finally decide to go through with their divorce. The pair spend the few remaining days they have left together living as individuals rather than as a couple. Everyone gathers at the Mizuguchi family home, and Saki learns that Midori gave the divorce papers to Takeshi. Saki makes an attempt to help the couple reconcile, but her efforts go nowhere, and Takeshi leaves the completed divorce papers as a parting gift. Saki prepares a final meal to share with Koichi, but he has trouble at work and cannot be reached. Ren Minazuki arrives uninvited and enters her home. Koichi arrives a short while later, and the situation reaches a boiling point on the night before their divorce.
