Miracle

In 2007, German paraglider Ewa Wisnierska creates history as she survives one of the most harrowing encounters with the fury of nature's elemental power. She is sucked into a massive thunderstorm and pulled up to 10,000 metres, cruising. At this altitude her body faces a multitude of life-threatening forces, low oxygen, freezing temperatures and wild weather conditions. But Ewa manages to navigate her way out of the storm, land her glider and survive with only minor frost bite and swelling.

Robert Bogucki survived 43 days lost in Australia's Great Sandy Desert before being rescued. While police called off the initial search for Bogucki after 15 days, believing him to have perished in the desert, family members hired specialist trackers to continue the search and soon found fresh evidence that Bogucki had survived at least that long. Bogucki was found by an Australian television news helicopter on 23 August 1999 in Western Australia's Edgar Ranges, 400km from his departure point. Bogucki had lost 30 kilograms during his trek and managed to survive by eating flowers and plants.

2008 was one of the most deadly monsoon seasons on record. Tropical storm Kammuri burst the banks of the Mekong River and thousands of people balanced on the edge of death. Among them was Hayden Adcock, an experienced Australian hill-walker, who had failed to return from a solo trek in the Laos jungle. After four days of ground searches in horrific conditions, Adcock was pronounced missing - presumed dead. Lost in the jungle, at the mercy of the violent storm, his body was consumed by creeping infections, hypothermia and blood poisoning. But six days later, as a miraculous chain of events fell into place, Adcock was found alive, lying at the top of a waterfall. With never before seen footage, exclusive interviews and high quality reconstruction, Miracle in the Jungle is one of the great survival stories.
