Portillo's Andalucia

Journalist Michael Portillo travels the Spanish region of Andalusia, meeting local people who share their passions. His first stop is Granada, where he meets a food writer and tries his hand at a potter's wheel.

In the coastal city of Malaga, Michael enjoys one of Spain's biggest street parties known as the Feria. He also visits the incredible hilltop town of Ronda and stops off at a vineyard.

Michael visits the ancient city of Cordoba and the Costa del Sol, savouring the mixture of Roman, Muslim and Christian civilisations. He finds what could be Spain's biggest tortilla.

Michael visits the busiest fishing port in Andalucía, stops off in Huelva City to follow in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus and visits the stunning Gruta de las Maravillas caves.

Michael ventures to Europe's oldest inhabited city, Cádiz, before heading inland to the world capital of sherry, Jerez. His visit coincides with the finale of the annual Tall Ships race and the annual sherry grape harvest festival.

Michael Portillo goes to two of the places he knows best to finish his Andalusian odyssey. He visits the capital city of Sevilla and the town where he lives, Carmona, taking in the Metropol Parasol and tapas.
