A mysterious phone call from an anonymous man starts police officer Sartaj Singh off on a chase around Mumbai in a dangerous cat-and-mouse game.

News of Ganesh Gaitonde causes a stir among Mumbai's elite, from politicians to film stars. Sartaj is removed from the case, but begins his own investigation.

The woman discovered in the bunker leads Sartaj to Gaitonde's thug, Bunty. In a flashback, Gaitonde remembers stealing a lucky charm from rival Suleiman Isa.

Television starlet Nayanika visits Bunty with a hidden camera. In the mid-1980s, Gaitonde finds a racket even more lucrative than drugs and guns: politics.

Sartaj intervenes during a RAW operation to save Nayanika. In 1992, as political discord increases so does the bloodshed from Gaitonde and Isa's conflict.

When Sartaj's constable, Katekar, is pushed to investigate the disappearance of a young man from a Muslim slum, disastrous consequences ensue.
