The Blitz: Britain On Fire
The story of Margaret Johnson, a mother of six whose children weren't evacuated out of the city and when the bombing began; the story of Howard Kinley, a merchant navy captain in charge of a crew of 72 and a ship full of explosives.
Matron Gertrude Riding and Dr Leonard Findlay run a hospital with a busy maternity ward that sits right in the middle of the target zone; in the docks, Captain Howard Kinley's bomb-laden ship catches fire, and 350 tonnes of high explosives go up.
Mary Lawson's rash decision to stay above ground during the bombing has serious consequences, but the city ultimately emerges from this terrible time wounded but not defeated.
