From the producers of Two Fat Ladies comes The Naked Chef, featuring 20-something British sensation Jamie Oliver. Jamie kicks off the series by making a simple yet sophisticated meal for fellow chefs on a rare night off. He cooks up a simple but tasty meal of fusion broth with seafood, noodles and black beans; lamb with pancetta, sage and rosemary; roasted red onions with thyme and butter; and vanilla baked fruit.

Jamie’s sister is getting married, and in a rash moment he has agreed to cook for the hen night. He races across town to Portobello Market to pick up vegetables from Barry’s stall, but can’t persuade Barry to help him out in the kitchen. Back at the flat he knocks up a delicious meal for the 12 raucous girls, and if the number of kisses he receives is anything to go by, they go off into the night very satisfied. He cooks baked salmon with olives, green beans, anchovies and cherry tomatoes and basil aioli, focaccia with olive oil, rosemary and garlic and rounds off with a lemon and lime cream tart.

Jamie’s uncle and cousins are paying a visit to London for the day. While Uncle Alan is out at the boatshow, Jamie is persuaded to take the kids off his hands for the afternoon. Before they arrive, Jamie enjoys a cheese-tasting and buying session with Patricia at her shop La Fromagerie. Back at the flat, he involves the children in making a sumptuous meal for that night. Used to the racket of a restaurant kitchen, Jamie is unaware of their squeals and together they create a pasta feast for the rest of the family. They cook spaghetti with chilli, anchovies and pangrattato, fresh ravioli with smashed broad beans, mint and ricotta, potato, watercress and cheeses; praline and Semi Freddo.

It’s a huge night for Jamie and his reunited band, the biggest gig in weeks after six months of rehearsing. He predicts they will all be pretty ‘bevved’ up by the time they eat and so a chilli-rich meal will be perfect. Fuelled by a gigantic bacon sandwich, he heads off to Chinatown to buy the herbs and spices he needs to make a Thai green curry. Back at the flat after a cracker of a gig, the band enjoy demolishing the meal, and possibly Jamie’s flat. He cooks vegetable tempura with dipping sauce; Thai green chicken curry; and tomato, cucumber and coconut salad.

Jamie needs no excuse to throw a party, but this time he’s got one. It’s his 24th birthday and he’s got plenty to celebrate. Although at their own parties Jamie’s friends may only stretch to a few bowls of crisps, they expect more from Jamie and so he sets to work on a big food feast to keep the crowd happy. Crackling and cocktails make a potent combination and the party goes with a bang. He makes roast pork and crackling with sweet chilli and pepper salsa, mozzarella and chilli salad, baby spinach, fresh pea and feta cheese salad, to be had with a cocktail: ‘Jungle Boogie’.

Jamie's cooking up a feast for his deserving girlfriend. With working at the restaurant, band rehearsals and everything else on his busy schedule, he's devoted very little time to her. Desperate to make amends, Jamie rustles up a romantic lunch at home. He turns on the oven, and the charm, and whips up a delicious meal of sea bass baked in a bag with herbs and red onion with a combination of accompaniments including fennel and radish salad, plus new potatoes cooked with dill and olive oil. Rounding off the proceedings with a wickedly rich baked chocolate tart, Jamie discovers his efforts have paid off and all is forgiven.
