Follows the work of veterinarians Peter Wright and Julian Norton and their staff, as they treat all sorts of animals at the Skeldale Veterinary Centre in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

Julian treats a cat that has a swollen eye, and helps a ewe deliver twin lambs; Peter deals with a bull terrier with halitosis.

Julian tries to inject a ferocious pig; Peter looks at an elderly couple's dairy herd; an alpaca fails to live up to his namesake.

Julian tries to help a cow that's struggling to deliver a huge calf; the vets help a puppy that has swallowed an extension cord.

Julian tries to help Bluebell as she prepares to give birth; Peter treats a lamb; a rabbit called Ethel has a leg injury.

Julian and the team check up on a goat with a bad temper and a possible broken leg, a horse that cut its hoof open, and Gypsy, a new mum who seems to show no interest in her newborn puppies.

Julian performs emergency surgery on Marlo, a cat that has been shot in the head. Later, an owner is given the choice of whether or not to save his dog's life.
