Kevin Eldon

Actor and comedian Kevin Eldon is well known in England for performing diverse supporting characters--that often steal the show--in some of the top comedy programs there. He began his career in the early 1990s performing stand-up comedy and became friends with fellow comedian Stewart Lee, who later invited him to perform on his radio series "Lee & Herring's Fist of Fun." It was here that the mockingly self-referential term "the actor Kevin Eldon" came about, as he preferred to be called an actor rather than a comedian. In 1995, he appeared on the television spin-off of the radio show "Fist of Fun" in two of his earliest memorable roles: the fraudster claiming to be Rod Hull, the popular British television entertainer, and Simon Quinlank, "King of all Hobbies." He revised the character of Simon Quinlank, along with performing as Judas Iscariot and The Actor Kevin Eldon, through 11 episodes of the comedy series "This Morning With Richard Not Judy" from 1998 to 1999. Also in 1998, he made an unusual appearance on a drama, in the role of Oscar Castellano in the American crime show "Law & Order." He would go on to appear on the program in two other roles over the next four years. Among his film roles are an appearance in the 2005 remake of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," starring Johnny Depp, and a sniper in 2010's controversial comedy "Four Lions," which told the tale of bumbling jihadists in London.
