Wade Briggs

Australian actor Wade Briggs made a considerable splash on both sides of the Pacific as an attractive romantic partner for comedian Josh Thomas on the popular comedy series "Please Like Me" (Pivot/Hulu, 2013-16). Briggs studied acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2010, and made his screen debut that same year in the student film "Epiphany." Though frequently cast for his physical appearance, he made a convincing teenaged thug in the 2012 supernatural short "Yardbird," which earned a Best Short Film nomination from the Cannes Film Festival that year. Briggs earned his breakout role as Geoffrey, the boyfriend of series creator Josh Thomas' anxious hero on the Australian comedy-drama "Please Like Me." Though handsome and somewhat dim, Geoffrey proves to have considerable heart and soul, expressing his disappointment over Josh's feelings for him, which seem to spark only when he feels lonely. Briggs left "Please Like Me" after its first season to join the long running Australian TV soap opera "Home and Away" (Seven Network, 1988-), playing a barman who becomes embroiled in a murder case. Following the conclusion of that storyline, Briggs made his first appearance in a feature-length film, co-starring in the quirky romantic comedy "What Time is My Heart?" (2016), which was quickly followed by a starring role in "The Spirit of the Game" (2016), a drama with Kevin Sorbo about missionaries helping to train the first Australian Olympic basketball team in 1956.
