In a nod to the holiday classic “It’s a Wonderful Life,” the Chances go to the movies and are surprised when they discover that the film they’re watching is strikingly similar to their own family life. Meanwhile, Jimmy is transported into a cinematic dreamlike state and experiences the world as though he never met Hope’s serial killer mom Lucy (guest star Bijou Phillips). But when he returns to reality, he soon realizes that life without Hope would not be nearly as sweet.

When Burt is introduced to a book on sleep-training, he and Virginia decide to try it on Hope. Meanwhile, Jimmy’s wild new girlfriend introduces him to a special beverage that takes him on a scary trip.

While reading to the children of Camden County, Earl reminisces about a recent list item that he and Randy righted. It all began when Earl found his old friend, Raynard, living in the wild and keeping company with a raccoon. Jaime Pressly, Nadine Velazquez and Eddie Steeples also star.

When auditions for Erik Estrada's new reality show come to Camden, Earl encourages Joy to go for her childhood dream of becoming famous and try out, thus allowing him to cross an item off his list. Joy, initially reluctant, steals Randy's audition and makes a fool of herself. Her crazy antics are a cause for concern when Darnell receives a startling phone call. Nadine Velazquez also stars.

Joy asks Earl to speak at career day at Dodge's school; Earl, Randy and Catalina search for Dodge's real dad.
