Ed Shearmur

Edward Shearmur has composed music for many films and TV series, including the feature "Miss Congeniality" and the drama series "The Starter Wife." Somewhat of a child prodigy, he began singing with the choir at Westminster Cathedral at the age of seven and later studied at the Royal College of Music in Eton, and at Cambridge's Pembroke College. His first foray into the film industry was as an assistant to the noted film composer Michael Kamen on films such as "The Krays" and "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen," where he provided orchestration. His first film as composer was the Ian McEwan adaptation "The Cement Garden" in 1993 before going on to compose scores for the TV movie "The Hunchback" in '97, and the thriller "Cruel Intentions" in '99. In 2000 he made a significant impact, scoring both the action comedy "Charlie's Angels" and Sandra Bullock's comedy "Miss Congeniality." The increased recognition led to work on the sci-fi film "K-PAX," the literary adaptation "The Count of Monte Cristo," and the fantasy film "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow." His theme music for the television show "Masters of Horror" won an Emmy in 2006.
