Taylor Firth

A rising figure skater who began skating at the age of seven, Taylor Firth has competed in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the Finlandia Trophy, an internationally renowned skating competition. As a teenager, she became a Senior level figure skater and even skipped the Junior level along the way. In 2007, she earned 14th place at the 2007 championships and competed abroad in Finland. Firth's entrance into the film industry was incredibly happenstance and she was offered to play the role of Lexi, a blind figure skater in the 1978 remake of "Ice Castles." As a child, she was a fan of the original film, and in 2009 her coach received an email asking if Firth wanted to audition for the lead. She filmed herself reading the script and sent the tape in the next day. Firth was quickly chosen for the role and moved to Nova Scotia for filming. Donald Wrye, the original director and writer of "Ice Castles," was remaking his film for a new audience, and decided to recreate the past by casting another unknown actress for the lead. Firth had no formal acting training and transformed herself into a blind figure skater harboring aspirations in overcoming her handicap and enter competitions. The film premiered on DVD in 2010, and Firth hopes to further her ice skating career and even take part in the Christian film industry.
