D.J. Nash

DJ Nash's career as a TV comedy writer began in 2005 when he wrote three episodes of the Henry Winkler sitcom "Out of Practice." That show, however, never made it past season one. His next gig would not come until 2009 when he landed a consulting producer spot on the Jenna Elfman vehicle "Accidentally on Purpose" (CBS 2009-10). However, that show was also cancelled after its first season. Undeterred, Nash scored numerous sitcom writing gigs over the next few years, writing for shows like "'Til Death" (Fox 2006-2010), "Bent" (NBC 2012) and "Up All Night" (NBC 2011-12), before selling the pilot for "Growing Up Fisher" to CBS. The show's lead character, a blind father who must care for his children after his wife (played by Elfman) divorces him, was loosely based on Nash's own father, and the show itself included actual scenes from Nash's childhood. One in particular involved the father, played by J.K. Simmons, cutting down a tree with a chainsaw with humorous results.
