Zuzana: Music is Life - A story of love, tyranny and Bach
Zuzana's life story is extraordinary not only because she returned to Czechoslovakia after the war to fulfill her childhood dream of a musical career, but also because she survived political and religious persecution and became an international concert and competition sensation. As she reveals her life full of hope and fear, we are immersed in the little-known history of Czechoslovakia, from the promise of democracy in the 1930s to the Nazi invasion, followed by the crushing brutality of forty years of Soviet occupation. As she tells her story, Zuzana goes beyond the personal aspects and takes a deeply moving look at the redemptive power of art in the turbulent 20th century. This documentary film is accompanied by original film music by Robert Neufeld.
