Episode 4

S3 E4: In this episode, George meets the newly weds whose only way of getting on to London’s property ladder is by investing their life savings into a 1950s dilapidated 52 foot former luxury yacht. It cost £14,000 but as George discovers, it is full of rust, rot and gaping holes and their twenty five grand restoration budget is surely not enough for them to fulfil their plans of creating a three bedroom home. In rural Aberdeenshire barley farmer Jane wants to build a traditional Scottish Highland bothy to encourage her family and friends to come and visit. With a budget of just £8,000 her father has come up with an ingenious way of building – six hundred miles away in Somerset, he sets out to create the two bedroom house in two parts which can then be transported up to Scotland and, if he’s got his measurements correct, bolted together to create the bothy. George’s Italian road trip continues at the stunning Lake Lugano region where he visits an equally stunning home made almost entirely from glass. And back in the UK, George and Will’s homemade wilderness lodge is starting to take shape as the roof is ready to be installed – but problems soon emerge as their small cabin needs to be transformed into several layouts by building hidden rooms that rise out of the floor.
