All Judy (Patrice Townsend) has to do to end her marriage to David (Henry Jaglom) is sign divorce papers. But when they reunite at his house, he persuades her to stay for a few days. During that time, they retrace the steps that led to their separation. They are joined by other couples at different stages in their relationships: Lucy (Joanna Frank) and Eddie (Alan Rachins), and Judy's sister (Melissa Leo) and her boyfriend. Each couple sheds a light on the trials of companionship.
