Center Stage
Yuan Ling-yuk enters the film circle when she is 16 years old. Initially, she does not have the opportunity to bring her ability and skills into play. It is only after she joins the Luen Wah Company, to perform in more serious films, that her acting skills begin to emerge. Yuan's acting career then runs smoothly. However, her love life is rough. At first, she and Cheung Tat-man love each other. But Cheung is addicted to gambling. After they separate, Yuan still has to pay Cheung alimony. Later, she goes with Tong Kwai-shan, the boss of a film company. She is not happy because Tong has a lot of other women. In the end, Cheung sues Yuan and Tong for adultery. Unable to bear the pressure from the public, Yuan writes a note 'What people say makes one fear' and commits suicide.
