Madame Brouette is a divorced mother who makes a living selling wares from her wheelbarrow on the sidewalks of the Sandaga market in Dakar, Senegal. She dreams of opening a café. But she meets and becomes infatuated with Naago, a corrupt cop, and soon becomes pregnant. Then Naago is shot and Madame Brouette is the only suspect. A vivid tale with a feminist point of view, set against commentary from the African musical soundtrack.
