Romance In Manhattan

Ginger Rogers and Francis Lederer star in this amiable comedy-drama about a New York chorus girl who helps an illegal immigrant build a new life in the big city. Streetwise Sylvia Dennis (Rogers) takes Karel Novak, a naïve Czech immigrant, under her wing. With the help of lovable beat cop Murphy (J. Farrel McDonald), Sylvia hides Karel from the immigration authorities and ultimately falls in love with him. But a crooked lawyer (Arthur Hohl) and a group of well-meaning welfare workers complicate matters for the unlikely couple.
