Last of His Tribe

Dr. Alfred Kroeber discovered a living relic named Ishi, the last survivor of the lost Yahi Indian tribe. Dr. Kroeber and his assistant Thomas Waterman invite Ishi to stay at a San Francisco museum whereby he becomes Kroeber's friend and a friend to Kroeber's seriously ill wife Hanriette. Ishi takes Kroeber and Waterman back to Yahi territory where he painfully recalls the brutal slaughtering of his tribe by the Saltu, the white man. He imparts to these men of science great Indian wisdom, teaching about life, death and respect for the land. Golden Globe® Nominated
