The Tunnel Of Love

Doris Day, Richard Widmark, Gig Young and Gia Scala star in this comedy of errors about a loving, childless couple--and how far each suspects the other would go for a baby of their own in their sunny, suburban Tunnel of Love. Augie and Isolde Poole (Widmark--How the West Was Won, Twilight's Last Gleaming and Day--That Touch of Mink, Pillow Talk) keep trying, unsuccessfully to have a child of their own--like their very successfully breeding neighbors, Dick and Alice Pepper (Young--They Shoot Horses, Don't They?; Game of Death and Elisabeth Fraser--The Glass Bottom Boat). When they finally decide to adopt but due to a series of misfortunate misunderstandings, pretty social worker Estelle Novick (Scala--The Angry Hills) believes Augie would not make an ideal father, Augie invites Estelle to dinner to ask her to reconsider. The next thing Augie remembers is waking up in a cheap motel room with a terrible hangover.
