Julia Crockett

Fans of TV knew Julia Crockett mainly for her role on the supernatural horror series "Outcast" (Fox, 2016-), but for lovers of the New York theater scene, the actor was beloved for her progressive forays into dance and performance art. Born in Telluride, Colorado, Crockett spent her youth absorbed in all areas of performance, from, singing with the Telluride Choral Society, to studying ballet, to starring in plays with the renowned Young People's Theatre company. After graduating from New York University with a degree in performance theory, she formed her own performance collective, Julia Crockett & Group, which crafted performance art focused largely on body movement. Eventually, Crockett's facility with the Meisner technique and many other body-centric areas of acting led to her becoming an instructor of movement and physical technique at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and Parsons School of Design. All the while, she also continued to pursue roles in other projects, performing "The Vagina Monologues" at men's prisons with Mightyee Shero Productions, and auditioning for film and TV roles. Though she largely returned to the stage after making her TV debut in a 2010 episode of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (NBC, 2001-2011), Crockett eventually returned to the screen when she was cast as Sarah Barnes on "Outcast" in 2016. She would go on to appear on David Fincher's series "Mindhunter" (Netflix, 2017-), and on the mystery-thriller series "Blindspot" (NBC, 2015-).
