It's Edith and Archie Bunker's 22nd wedding anniversary and their daughter Gloria and her husband Mike are planning a surprise Sunday brunch. Edith is pleasantly surprised, however, Archie's 'no big deal' attitude leads to a huge argument.

Writing The President
Mike writes a letter to President Nixon protesting everything that's wrong with America, including the state of the environment and the nation's involvement in Vietnam. Archie finds out, and he decides he also will write a letter to Tricky Dick.

Oh, My Aching Back
While moonlighting, driving a taxi for Bert Munson, Archie is in a minor fender bender with a Jewish woman.

Archie Gives Blood
Archie won't donate blood over his concerns a non-Caucasian will be the recipient.

Judging Books By Covers
Roger, a friend of Mike and Gloria's, stops by. Archie takes one look and labels him as gay even though Mike insists that he isn't. Mike makes a realization that one of Archie's drinking buddies, Steve is a well-adjusted, straight-acting, gay man.
EPISODE 6
Gloria's Pregnancy
Archie hits the roof when he learns Gloria is pregnant and unemployed college student Mike has no means to support his soon-to-be child. But just as he's changing his tune, Archie learns that Gloria became suddenly ill and suffered a miscarriage.
