In 2017, former members of LLDM share stories of childhood abuse at the hands of the "Apostles" on social media. Psychologically imprisoned through indoctrination, familial pressure, and cult-like dogma, survivors describe being groomed in exchange for "eternal salvation." As the church continues to spread globally, the survivor community strives to increase awareness.

As the church expands its influence, journalists Rhonda Schwartz and Brian Ross investigate the decades-long scandal and their televised interview with a vocal ex-LLDM member leads the California DOJ to take note. Risking their safety, other former members begin to speak out as the church plans the construction of a massive 300-acre complex in Georgia.

Current Apostle Naasón Joaquin García is arrested in LA on charges relating to five "Jane Does." After three years of delays, prosecutors offer Garcia a plea deal - a heartbreaking turn of events that robs survivors of a public trial. When García is sentenced to just 16 years, ex-LLDM members grapple with their trauma yet remain determined to keep fighting for justice.
