Geographical extremities and hungry predators make it impossible for the migrating herds to avoid casualties. But no matter what happens, the journey must go on.

The water bodies in Serengeti serve as a lifeline to many terrestrial, aerial and amphibious animals. Without them, the park's ecosystem cannot be considered whole.
