In the small quiet town of Vredegem, the Goethals sisters prepare for the funeral of their brother-in-law, Jean-Claude Delcorps. Meanwhile, in a neighboring town, insurance agents Thomas and Mathias Dewitt are on the verge of bankruptcy. The Federal Insurance Commission has given them two weeks to shore up the funds necessary to keep their license, but with the Delcorps payout looming over their heads, it seems a hopeless endeavour.

The Dewitts pay a visit to eldest sister Eva, pressing her for details regarding a suspicious fire that burned down the family chalet just 10 months ago.In flashback, Birgit approaches Eva with a ‘practical’ plan for killing their brother-in-law. At first, Eva is horrified by the suggestion, but she starts to have second thoughts after witnessing a particularly troubling incident between Goedele and Jean-Claude at the annual Wijnants & Company staff party.

The sisters reflect guiltily on the trail of destruction their conspiracy has left in its wake, but Eva and Birgit refuse to give up after their failed murder attempt, devising a new plan for which they’ll need Veerle’s extensive medical expertise.Bekka’s hopes of purchasing a massage studio are dashed when the bank denies her application. She later strikes up a deal with Goedele-she’ll rehabilitate Min in exchange for a loan.

The Dewitt brothers shift into high gear, stopping at nothing to secure the autopsy they so desperately need. Their investigation reunites Mathias and Bekka, though under unexpected circumstances-they’re shocked to learn of each other’s true identities.

Mathias tries his best to forget about Rebekka and concentrate on the case at hand. A couple of months earlier, a Goethals family outing resulted in a bloodbath, and the brothers want to question Birgit about some of the details of that day.

When Jean-Claude’s body is dug up for examination, the brothers get in an argument over dishonesty, and Mathias seeks comfort from Rebekka. Thomas confronts Goedele about her husband’s unusual medical history, forcing her to admit that the couple struggled with intimacy issues.
