Episode 4

S1 E4: With the raid on Ikedaya, the Shinsengumi's fame has soared overnight. While on a recruiting trip in Edo, Kondo and the others speak to Ito Kashitaro, who then joins the Shinsengumi. Kondo admires Ito, but the other men harbor more complicated reactions to the situation—Sannan, in particular. While he is still a lieutenant commander, he's unable to follow the path of a swordsman, and with Ito installed as their military adviser, he feels more and more that there is no place for him in the Shinsengumi. Chizuru is worried about him. Then, one day, things take an unexpected turn...
