Coup

German hip-hop duo Coup began as a collaboration between two established German rappers, Haftbefehl and Xatar. Both artists saw a fair amount of success in their solo careers, with both fetishizing the more criminal elements associated with rap music and both allegedly having multiple run-ins with the law. As such, their collaboration seemed inevitable; their aggressive lyrics and brash backing tracks led to an effortless combination of their styles and approaches. Their album under the Coup moniker, Der Holland Job, further emphasized their relationship with criminality.
