Tom Guard

British director Thomas Guard began making movies with his brother Charles when they both in their early teens. He began his professional career as a trainee in the camera department, first on the 1992 Ridley Scott biographical drama "1492: Conquest of Paradise," and then the next year, with the British Broadcasting Corporation on the television series "Lady Chatterley." He went on from there to begin his climb up the ranks. In 1998, he was a third assistant director on the spy-thriller "The Avengers," a big-screen adaptation of the 1960s television series, starring Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman. That same year, he marked his directorial debut with a short film entitled "Shuttle." The next year he worked in full capacity with his brother for the first time. The two of them wrote, produced, and directed the short film "Inside-Out," a quiet romantic comedy about a man trying to interview people on the street. He took a break from filmmaking to work on commercials and other endeavors for the next few years, returning in 2005 with another short romantic comedy made with his brother, entitled "Round About Five." In 2009, despite having never worked on a full-length feature, the pair, billing themselves as The Guard Brothers, were handed the reins of "The Uninvited," a remake of the 2003 Korean horror film "A Tale of Two Sisters," which went on to be a modest success.
