In the port of Rotterdam, an untrained crew partner with a dedicated team of volunteers to prepare an old trawler for their first voyage to the Mediterranean. Following a host of setbacks, the crew finally navigate their way to the Libyan coast, where thousands of refugees are desperately attempting the perilous crossing to Italy. Though not everyone can be saved, their moving rescue mission enables some to take their first steps towards a new life.
