Determined to help Liz (Tina Fey) keep a man for once, Jack (Alec Baldwin) meddles in her burgeoning relationship with Carol (guest star Matt Damon). At home, he also struggles to compromise with Avery as she redecorates his apartment. Meanwhile, Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) has trouble coming to grips with Kenneth's (Jack McBrayer) termination as a page and Jenna (Jane Krakowski) becomes TGS' newest producer. Liz uses her newfound confidence to solve Pete's problem with a difficult editor; Jack tries to cheat mortality; Tracy vows to be present when his wife gives birth.

Jack must appear before Congress to discuss the network's merger with KableTown; when one congresswoman demands more diversity in programming, Jack enlists Tracy to come up with new show ideas.

On show night, Liz Lemon grows increasingly infuriated when no one seems to remember that it's her 40th birthday. Just before the taping, Tracy Jordan becomes convinced that nothing is funnier than a performer laughing and breaking character, which he elects to do all night, much to Jenna Maroney's chagrin. Meanwhile, Jack Donaghy struggles with the consequences of his promise to give up drinking while Avery is pregnant.

Jack is having a perfect day and succeeding at every task; he tries to channel his winning streak into helping Liz figure out her relationship with Carol; Jenna and Kenneth enlist the help of Kelsey Grammer to pull off an ice cream scam.

Avery pushes Jack to set boundaries in his relationship with Liz; Liz's father tries to recapture his youth during a visit; Tracy wants Kenneth's help in reinventing himself.
