Pepe Aguilar

Pepe Aguilar, born José Antonio Aguilar Jiménez, is a renowned Mexican-American singer, songwriter, and actor known for his contributions to the regional Mexican music genre. He was born in San Antonio, Texas while his parents were on tour. His father, Antonio Aguilar, was a famous singer-songwriter and his mother, Flor Silvestre, was an actress and singer during the golden age of Mexican cinema. Aguilar's first time on stage was at the age of three singing during his father's concert in Madison Square Garden. Raised mostly in Zacatecas, Mexico, he became interested in traditional Mexican music, particularly ranchera and mariachi. He would become known for blending this traditional regional sound with influences from modern pop music to create a style all his own. He released a few albums in the early 1990s but achieved recognition throughout Mexico with "Por Mujeres Como Tú" (1998). His next album, "Por El Amor De Siempre" included reimagined versions of songs from his favorite 1970s artists and earned him widespread fame in Latin America. Aguilar continued to produce albums in the 2000s, often with tributes to Mexican artists who came before him, while also including an increasing number of original pieces. Throughout his career, Pepe Aguilar has released numerous successful albums and singles, earning several prestigious awards, including Grammy Awards and Latin Grammy Awards. Some of his most notable songs include "Por Mujeres Como Tú," "Prometiste," and "Me Vas a Extrañar." In addition to his music career, Pepe Aguilar has made occasional appearances in Mexican films and television.
