Emily Wagner

Actress Emily Wagner's relatively short list of film and television credits is dominated by her nearly 15-year run as paramedic Doris Pickman on the massively successful prime-time hospital drama "ER." Her top-heavy resume comes as the result of having dueling interests, as an artist, writer, and occasional screenwriter. She made her very un-Hollywood-like debut appearance as a teenager on the PBS educational documentary "High Feather" in 1980, before landing her career role on "ER" in 1994, a part that has given her the freedom to chase other pursuits. Her few other TV appearances, between 2000 and 2005, have been relative blinks of an eye. Wagner began her more independently oriented film route by collaborating with French actress, writer, and director Julie Delpy, first co-starring with her in her short, "Blah Blah Blah," in 1995, followed by her 2002 feature, "Looking for Jimmy." In 2004, her brother, the writer/director Andrew Wagner, cast Emily, their sister Maggie, and their parents in the raucously perverse road trip comedy, "The Talent Given Us," which pushed real-vs.-acting ambiguity to the absolute limit. More recent film gigs range from a small supporting part as a flight attendant in the much bigger-budgeted road trip comedy "Due Date" from 2010, with Zach Galifanakis and Robert Downey Jr., to a key supporting role in Delpy's 2011 comedy, "2 Days in New York," which co-starred Delpy, Dylan Baker, and comedian Chris Rock.
