Robert Langlois tombe amoureux d'une charmante jeune fille, Catherine. Il vit chez ses parents et, s'étant fait renvoyer du stage qu'il effectuait chez un notaire, il n'ose aborder le sujet du mariage. Il s'arrange alors pour que ses parents engagent Catherine comme bonne.
